Scooter’s Lawn Care was founded by Jacob Godar in spring 2014.
From its conception, it was Jacob’s dream: to combine his entrepreneurial goals with an industry he already knew and loved, while paying tribute to a dear friend who had affectionately nicknamed him “Scooter Boy.”
What started as a typical “one man band” lawn care company in 2014 quickly transformed into something incredible.
By 2018, we were an award-winning lawn care, landscaping, and home service company with a strong team.
In 2021, we expanded to a second location in Cape Coral, Florida.
In 2023, we opened a Scag mower dealership at our Springfield location to better serve the community and assist our industry friends in achieving success.

a redefinition of the industry through exceptionally high service standards;
and a positive culture for our employees that nurtures and facilitates growth without limits.
Landscaping and hardscaping remain our core focuses, but we continue to expand our lawn maintenance department year after year.
Our goal is simple: to provide the type of quality care to our clients that will ultimately allow them to spend more time enjoying their lives and enhance the way they experience their home.
As our company grows, we continue to create local careers, give back to our community, and embrace the small business values that have made us great.

We are committed to consistently giving back to the community.
Our company gives away Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas hams to deserving people and families each year.
We host service giveaways throughout the year – like free property clean ups, landscape plantings, and our most popular: our Annual Year of Free Lawn Care Giveaway.
We regularly seek out opportunities to raise funds for charities and local groups through community event participation and sponsorships (like the Patrick Sheehan Benefit Fund, Everyday for Emmie, Top Tier Springfield, and more).
In recognition, CEO Jacob Godar was named in 2019’s Springfield Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.
We have been voted “Best Lawn Care Company” (2021 & 2023), “Best Landscape Company” (2018-2020) and “Best Landscape Designer (Jacob Godar)” (2018-2019) in the Illinois Times’ Best of Springfield.
We were voted the “Best Lawn Care & Landscaping Company” in 2022 & 2023 and named finalists in several local awards from 2018 – 2021, including: “Best Lawn Care Company,” “Best Landscape Company,” “Best Paver Company,” “Best Gutter Service,” “Best Landscape Designer,” the “Innovators Award,” the “Emerging and Energized Award,” and “Best Collaborators” in The State Journal-Register’s Readers’ Choice Awards, the Illinois Times’ Best of Springfield Awards, and the Local First Springfield Awards, respectively.
